In this clip from www.artistshousemusic.org - Erica Muhl, a Professor of Composition at the USC Thornton School of Music, answers a question about whether there is worth in comparing the performances of great conductors with a series of observations about the role and duty of a composer to create a performance that is true to three entities: themselves, the music, and the composer whose vision must be respected most of all.

As part of a concert titled "Women Composers of the Present," principal conductor H. Robert Reynolds leads the USC Thornton Wind Ensemble in "Smoke & Mirrors" by Erica Muhl at the University of Southern California's Bovard Auditorium. The performance appeared on KCET's television show Open Call with host Suzanna Guzmán.

Opening of the Wagner Museum in Dresden-Graupa, 2013
Erica Muhl was commissioned by the museum to orchestrate an 1853 Wagner piano piece that foreshadows 'Tristan & Isolde." The work premiered at the hall's debut concert, celebrating the Wagner Bicentennial. Much of the research for the orchestration was completed during a residency at the nearby "Lohengrinhaus," where Wagner wrote that opera, and at Bayreuth.
